About The DofE
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a programme of voluntary activities available to everyone between the ages of 14 and 25. It's delivered all over the country by schools, youth clubs, DofE Open Centres, and other projects, and you can use it to develop existing interests or try something new.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is not competitive, any one with the necessary perseverance, enterprise and effort can gain an Award, including those with disabilities.
There are three level of Awards:
· Bronze for those over 14
· Silver for those over 15
· Gold for those over 16 years
Each Award is separate, and you can either progress through all three, or start bronze, silver or gold as you wish (assuming you are old enough).
Adults can get involved too. As trainers and helpers, the DofE provides adults with an opportunity to share their skills and experience with young people. This leads to better understanding between the two groups, and strengthens cooperation in the community.
For more details about the DofE, visit the national website on www.dofe.org, or visit a local "DofE Open Centre" (where anyone can do the Award) or contact us.
